Understanding the Easy Gamer Utility interface

Understanding the Easy Gamer Utility interface

The Easy Gamer Utility interface is divided into different sections for cleaning, launching games, checking performance, fixing problems and changing settings.

You do not need to understand every part of the program before using it.

This guide explains what the main tabs, buttons, colours and menus mean so that you can find the tool you need.

The top of the Easy Gamer Utility window

The top area of Easy Gamer Utility contains:

  • The main menu
  • The program name
  • The Settings button
  • The minimise button
  • The close button
  • The main feature tabs

These controls remain visible while you move between most sections of the program.

The Easy Gamer Utility title

The name of the program is shown near the top centre of the window.

It may display:

Easy Gamer Utility

or:

Easy Gamer Utility PRO

If PRO appears after the program name, Easy Gamer Utility Pro is currently active.

If it only says Easy Gamer Utility, you are using the Free version or your Pro licence has not been confirmed.

The top menu

The menu at the top-left of Easy Gamer Utility contains several shortcuts.

The available menu names include:

  • View
  • Tools
  • Help
  • Quick Launch
  • Run EGU as admin

Click one of these names to open its menu.

The exact options inside a menu may change when Easy Gamer Utility is updated.

Use this menu when you are looking for an additional window, panel or display option that is not shown in the main tabs.

The Tools menu contains shortcuts to additional Easy Gamer Utility and Windows tools.

These shortcuts can save you from searching through the main sections of the program.

Help

The Help menu contains useful support and information links.

Use this menu when you need help with Easy Gamer Utility, want to report a problem or need to open a related ComputerSluggish page.

An internet connection may be required when opening an online help page.

Quick Launch

The Quick Launch menu lets you quickly open supported programs without finding their normal Windows shortcuts.

Depending on what is installed, shortcuts may include:

  • Steam
  • Epic Games Launcher
  • EA App
  • Battle.net
  • Xbox app
  • Windows Task Manager

If a program is not installed or its Windows link is not working, Easy Gamer Utility may show a message saying it could not be opened.

Run EGU as admin

Click Run EGU as admin when a tool needs administrator permission.

Easy Gamer Utility will close and try to reopen with the extra Windows permission.

Windows will normally display a message asking whether you want to allow the program to make changes to your device.

Click Yes to continue.

You do not need to run Easy Gamer Utility as an administrator just to view the interface or use basic tools.

The Settings button

The white cog icon near the top-right corner opens the Easy Gamer Utility Settings area.

The Settings area contains smaller tabs such as:

  • Settings
  • Activate PRO
  • Resource Monitor Alerts Log

Click the cog again whenever you need to change the program’s general options.

The minimise button

The small button minimises Easy Gamer Utility.

Easy Gamer Utility may disappear from the Windows taskbar and continue running in the system tray.

The system tray is the small area near the Windows clock.

Minimising the program does not always close it completely.

The close button

The X button closes Easy Gamer Utility completely.

Use this button when you no longer want the program running in the background.

Before closing Easy Gamer Utility, allow any cleaning, scanning, backup or repair task to finish.

The main Easy Gamer Utility tabs

The main feature tabs are shown in a row near the top of the program.

The available tabs include:

  • Game Data
  • Clean
  • Launch
  • Files
  • Network
  • Game Booster
  • Advisor
  • Diagnose
  • Fix
  • Monitor
  • Tweaks

Click a tab name to open that section.

The currently selected tab is normally shown in blue. The other tab names are shown in white.

Game Data tab

The Game Data tab helps you find large game folders and game-related files that are using storage space.

The scan results may show:

  • Game name
  • Folder name
  • Folder type
  • Folder size
  • Folder location

This section does not automatically delete the folders it finds.

Use it to understand which games or folders are taking up the most space.

Clean tab

The Clean tab contains tools for finding and removing temporary gaming files.

It contains smaller sections such as:

  • Game Launchers
  • Graphics
  • Advanced Cleaner

The Game Launchers section includes supported programs such as Steam, Epic Games Launcher, Ubisoft Connect, EA App and Battle.net.

Analyze button

Click Analyze to check which files are present.

Analyzing does not remove the files.

Use this option first when you want to see what Easy Gamer Utility has found.

Clean button

Click Clean to remove the supported temporary files.

Easy Gamer Utility will normally ask you to confirm before permanently deleting anything.

Close the related launcher before cleaning its cache. For example, close Steam before cleaning Steam cache files.

Launch tab

The Launch tab contains tools for adding, organising and starting games.

Its smaller sections may include:

  • Game Launching
  • Game Launcher 2
  • Windows Launching
  • Force Game High Priority

Game Launching

This section lets you browse for a game’s .exe file and add it to Easy Gamer Utility.

An .exe file is the main program file used to start a Windows game.

After adding a game, you can select it from the list and click Launch Game.

Game Launcher 2

Game Launcher 2 displays supported games using their names and icons.

The games can be separated into groups such as:

  • All Games
  • Steam
  • EA App
  • Xbox App
  • Ubisoft
  • Roblox

Clicking a game icon starts that game through its normal launcher.

Windows Launching

The Windows Launching section contains shortcuts for restarting your computer into special Windows areas.

These can include:

  • Windows Troubleshoot
  • BIOS or firmware settings

These options restart the computer.

Save all open work before using them.

Force Game High Priority

This section lets Pro users configure a selected game to run using High Priority.

High Priority tells Windows to give the game more attention than normal background programs.

Read the red warning shown inside the program before using this option.

It may not be suitable for every game, especially games that use anti-cheat software.

Files tab

The Files tab helps you find supported game folders.

Select a game from the list and then choose the type of folder you want to open.

Available buttons may include:

  • Saved data
  • Config files
  • Mod files
  • Save Backup

Saved data

Opens the folder where a supported game stores your progress.

Config files

Opens the folder containing a supported game’s settings files.

Mod files

Opens a location commonly used for supported game modifications.

Save Backup

Opens the save backup tools for supported games.

Some games may require your Steam ID before Easy Gamer Utility can find the correct folder.

Network tab

The Network tab contains connection checks and repair tools.

Its smaller sections include:

  • Troubleshoot
  • Server Status
  • Ping Tool

Troubleshoot

The Troubleshoot section includes tools such as:

  • Clear DNS cache files
  • Change local IP address
  • Reset network adapter
  • Remove network adapters

Some actions require Easy Gamer Utility to be running as an administrator.

Dangerous or advanced actions may also require you to tick a confirmation box before the button works.

Server Status

The Server Status section can check whether a server responds to a connection test.

It may show information such as:

  • Online status
  • Server connection
  • Ping
  • Your IP address

Some server tools require Easy Gamer Utility Pro.

Ping Tool

The Ping Tool checks the speed and stability of your connection to selected test servers.

The results can include:

  • Server name
  • Resolved IP address
  • Latency
  • Jitter

Latency shows how long data takes to travel between your computer and the server.

Jitter shows how much the connection timing changes during the test.

Game Booster tab

The Game Booster tab contains options that can temporarily reduce background activity while you play.

The options are separated into groups such as:

  • Performance Optimisations
  • System Optimisations
  • Gaming Optimisations

Tick the options you want to use and then click Turn on Game Boost Mode.

The Game Booster screen may also display:

  • Whether Game Boost is on or off
  • Total Game Boost running time
  • Windows Experience Score
  • CPU score
  • Graphics score
  • RAM score
  • Main drive score

Do not tick every option without reading it.

Choose only the settings you understand and actually want Easy Gamer Utility to use.

Advisor tab

The Advisor tab contains the Performance Advisor.

Click Scan to check your computer for possible gaming performance problems.

After the scan, the page may show:

  • Gaming Health Score
  • Health description
  • Number of issues found
  • Individual issue cards
  • Recommended actions
  • Impact level

Impact labels may include:

  • High Impact
  • Medium Impact
  • Low Impact

A detected issue does not always mean something is broken.

It means Easy Gamer Utility found something that could affect gaming on some computers.

Diagnose tab

The Diagnose tab displays Windows errors and warnings.

The top area contains controls such as:

  • Show warnings
  • Number of days to check
  • Check Errors
  • Check Error Logs
  • Resource Monitor Logs

The upper table lists the errors that were found.

Click an error to display more information in the larger box below it.

Windows records many errors during normal use, so not every result means there is a serious problem.

Fix tab

The Fix tab contains repair and troubleshooting tools.

Its smaller sections may include:

  • Games
  • Emulators
  • Custom Game Fixing
  • Dead Pixel
  • Game Launchers

Games

Contains ready-made repair buttons for selected games.

Click Attempt Fix beside the game you are having trouble with.

Emulators

Contains repair tools for supported Android emulators and similar gaming software.

Custom Game Fixing

Lets you browse for a game file and select the launcher used by that game.

The available buttons may include:

  • Attempt Fix
  • Attempt Deep Fix/Analyze

Read the warning before using an experimental or deep fix.

Close the game and its launcher before continuing.

Dead Pixel

Contains tools for testing a screen for dead or stuck pixels.

The colour test displays solid colours so that a faulty pixel is easier to see.

The fixer displays rapidly changing colours that may help with some stuck pixels.

It cannot guarantee that a physically damaged pixel will be repaired.

Game Launchers

Contains repair options for supported game launchers and related services.

Monitor tab

The Monitor tab lets you watch the price of supported Steam games.

The top boxes may ask for:

  • AppID
  • Price alert name
  • Target price

Click Add Game after entering the details.

Added games appear in the table below.

The table can show:

  • AppID
  • Game name
  • Target price
  • Current price

To remove a game, select its row and click Remove Selected.

Tweaks tab

The Tweaks tab contains Windows settings that can be changed from Easy Gamer Utility.

Available options may include:

  • Add Ultimate Power Plan
  • Disable Xbox Game Bar
  • Disable MPO
  • Enable AVX
  • Disable Hibernation and Fast Startup
  • Disable Notifications

Some tweaks require administrator permission or Easy Gamer Utility Pro.

Use Create Restore Point before applying Windows changes.

After selecting the settings you want, click Apply.

Do not enable a tweak unless you understand what it changes.

Smaller tabs under the main tabs

Many main sections contain a second row of smaller tab names.

For example, the Network tab contains:

  • Troubleshoot
  • Server Status
  • Ping Tool

The selected smaller tab is normally highlighted in blue.

Clicking a smaller tab changes only the tool shown inside the current main section.

It does not close or restart Easy Gamer Utility.

Understanding Easy Gamer Utility colours

Easy Gamer Utility uses colours to make different messages easier to recognise.

Blue text

Blue normally shows the currently selected main tab or smaller tab.

Blue buttons are standard action buttons.

Examples include:

  • Analyze
  • Clean
  • Scan
  • Browse
  • Save Settings
  • Attempt Fix

Orange text

Orange text marked Pro means that the feature requires Easy Gamer Utility Pro.

A Pro label does not mean that the program is broken.

You can continue using the features included with the Free version.

Green text

Green normally means that something is working or connected.

Examples can include:

  • Connected to the internet
  • Successful connection
  • Completed scan
  • Good test result
  • Game Boost enabled

Red text

Red is used for warnings, errors or actions that need extra care.

Read red text before clicking the nearby button.

A red message may warn you that:

  • Administrator permission is required
  • A change could affect Windows
  • A game could be affected
  • You must accept responsibility before continuing
  • An error has been detected

White text

White is the normal text colour used for instructions, labels and unselected tabs.

Understanding buttons

Most Easy Gamer Utility buttons describe the action they will perform.

Common button names include:

  • Analyze
  • Clean
  • Browse
  • Add Game
  • Remove Game
  • Scan
  • Check
  • Reset
  • Save Settings
  • Apply
  • Cancel

Read the text around a button before clicking it.

Some buttons perform the action immediately, while others display a confirmation message first.

Understanding checkboxes

A checkbox is a small square beside an option.

A tick means the option is enabled or selected.

An empty square means it is disabled or not selected.

Some checkboxes are used to enable settings.

Others are confirmation boxes that must be ticked before a potentially risky button becomes available.

Do not tick a confirmation box unless you have read the warning beside it.

Understanding lists and tables

Some Easy Gamer Utility sections display results inside a list or table.

A table is divided into columns containing different types of information.

For example, a storage table may contain:

  • Game
  • Folder
  • Type
  • Size

Click a row to select it.

The selected row is normally highlighted.

Some buttons only work after you have selected an item from the list.

Understanding text boxes

A text box is a rectangular area where you can type or paste information.

Easy Gamer Utility may use text boxes for:

  • A game file location
  • Server IP address
  • Process ID
  • Steam AppID
  • Product key
  • Backup location
  • Ubisoft Connect location

Make sure you enter the type of information requested beside the box.

Understanding Browse buttons

A Browse button opens a Windows file selection window.

Use it when Easy Gamer Utility asks you to find:

  • A game .exe file
  • A launcher file
  • A backup folder
  • Another supported file location

Select the correct file and click Open.

The chosen location should then appear inside the nearby text box.

Understanding progress bars

A progress bar shows that Easy Gamer Utility is working.

The coloured part moves or grows as the task progresses.

Progress bars may appear while:

  • Scanning game storage
  • Checking files
  • Creating a backup
  • Updating the program
  • Running a longer task

Wait for the task to finish before closing the program.

Use Cancel only when you want to stop the current scan.

Using scroll bars

Some sections contain more tools or results than can fit inside the window.

Use the scroll bar on the right-hand side to move up and down.

You can:

  • Drag the small bar
  • Click above or below it
  • Use the mouse wheel

If a button appears to be missing, scroll down to check the rest of the page.

The Easy Gamer Utility Settings area

Click the cog icon to open Settings.

The smaller Settings tabs include:

Settings

Contains general program options such as:

  • Start Easy Gamer Utility with Windows
  • Hide update notifications
  • Enable Resource Monitor alerts
  • Share anonymous usage information
  • Choose the startup tab
  • Set the Ubisoft Connect location

Click Save Settings after changing an option.

Activate PRO

Contains the Easy Gamer Utility Pro activation area.

Use this section to enter or change your Pro product key.

Resource Monitor Alerts Log

Displays programs that have used a high amount of system resources while Resource Monitor alerts were enabled.

An empty log simply means that nothing has been recorded yet.

Why is a button greyed out or unavailable?

A disabled button may mean:

  • The feature requires Easy Gamer Utility Pro
  • Administrator permission is required
  • You need to select an item first
  • A required file or folder was not found
  • You need to tick a confirmation box
  • The tool is not supported on your computer
  • Another task is already running

Read the nearby instructions and warning text.

They will normally explain what is missing.

The Easy Gamer Utility system tray icon

When you minimise Easy Gamer Utility, it may continue running in the Windows system tray.

The system tray is near the clock in the bottom-right corner of Windows.

Click the small upward arrow if you cannot see the Easy Gamer Utility icon.

Open Easy Gamer Utility again

Double-click the Easy Gamer Utility system tray icon to reopen the main window.

You may also be able to right-click the icon and choose Open Easy Gamer Utility.

System tray menu

Right-clicking the system tray icon can display shortcuts such as:

  • Open Easy Gamer Utility
  • Turn Game Boost on or off
  • Open an added game
  • Exit

Choose Exit when you want to close Easy Gamer Utility completely.

Moving the Easy Gamer Utility window

Easy Gamer Utility uses a custom window design without the normal Windows title bar.

To move it:

  1. Place the mouse near the empty top area or program title.
  2. Hold the left mouse button.
  3. Move the mouse.
  4. Release the button when the window is in the position you want.

Easy Gamer Utility can remember its window position.

If a monitor is removed or the screen layout changes, the program may return to the centre of the screen.

Free and Pro interface differences

The interface changes slightly when Easy Gamer Utility Pro is activated.

Pro users may notice that:

  • The title changes to Easy Gamer Utility PRO
  • Pro labels are removed from unlocked features
  • Disabled Pro buttons become available
  • The upgrade button disappears
  • The advertising area is removed
  • The current subscription or licence is shown in Settings

Free and Pro use the same main interface.

You do not need to learn a different layout after upgrading.

Easy Gamer Utility interface in simple terms

Use the first row of tabs to choose the main type of tool.

Use the second row to choose a specific tool inside that section.

Blue shows what you currently have selected. Orange normally means Pro, green normally means successful or connected, and red means you should stop and read the warning.

Click the cog for Settings, the button to minimise the program and the X button to close it completely.
