Blocker Web Free vs Blocker Web Pro

Blocker Web Free vs Blocker Web Pro

Blocker Web is available in Free and Pro versions.

Both versions include the main website-blocking tools, while Blocker Web Pro removes the website limit and unlocks additional remote-control features.

Blocker Web Free

Blocker Web Free includes the essential tools needed to block websites on a Windows computer.

With the Free version, you can:

  • Add up to five websites to your block list
  • Turn website blocking on or off
  • Search your blocked website list
  • Remove websites from the list
  • Save a reason for blocking each website
  • View the date each website was added
  • Use Internet Lock to block common web traffic
  • Enable password protection
  • Display the optional custom blocked page
  • Restore your original hosts-file backup
  • Reset the Windows hosts file
  • Minimise Blocker Web to the system tray

The Free version is suitable if you only need to block a small number of websites on one computer.

Blocker Web Pro

Blocker Web Pro includes all the features available in the Free version.

It also provides:

  • More than five blocked websites
  • Remote Lockdown
  • Shared Folder Lockdown
  • Removal of the Free-version upgrade advert

Blocker Web Pro is more suitable for users who need a larger block list or want to control blocking using an external command file.

What Is Remote Lockdown?

Remote Lockdown allows Blocker Web Pro to check a text file hosted at a web address.

The first line of the file can contain one of two commands:

LOCK

This turns website blocking on.

UNLOCK

This turns website blocking off.

Blocker Web checks the remote file at the interval selected in the program settings.

This can be useful when you need to control website blocking on a computer from another location.

What Is Shared Folder Lockdown?

Shared Folder Lockdown works in a similar way to Remote Lockdown, but it reads the command from a text file stored on the computer or inside a shared network folder.

The file can contain:

LOCK

or:

UNLOCK

This may be useful for computers connected to the same local network or for users who prefer not to host the command file online.

Which Version Should I Choose?

Blocker Web Free may be enough if:

  • You only need to block up to five websites
  • You do not need remote controls
  • You are testing Blocker Web before upgrading

Blocker Web Pro may be better if:

  • You need to block more than five websites
  • You want to control blocking through a remote file
  • You want to use a command file inside a shared folder
  • You want to remove the Free-version upgrade advert
