How to Show a Custom Page for Blocked Websites

How to Show a Custom Page for Blocked Websites

Blocker Web can display a clear message when someone tries to open a blocked website.

This provides a friendlier explanation than a standard browser connection message and confirms that the website has been blocked on the computer.

Turn the Custom Blocked Page On

To enable the feature:

  1. Open Blocker Web.
  2. Select Settings from the menu.
  3. Find the option to show a custom webpage for blocked websites.
  4. Turn the option on.

Blocker Web saves this setting when it is changed.

It will be restored automatically the next time the program opens.

What the Page Displays

The page displays a simple message explaining that the website has been blocked by Blocker Web.

It is provided locally by the program, so it does not rely on an external webpage.

Leave Blocker Web Running

Blocker Web needs to remain running for the custom page to appear.

You do not need to keep the main window open.

Minimise Blocker Web to the Windows system tray and it can continue running in the background.

To reopen the program, double-click the Blocker Web tray icon.

Test the Custom Page

To test it:

  1. Make sure the website is in your blocked list.
  2. Make sure website blocking is set to ON.
  3. Leave Blocker Web running.
  4. Open your browser.
  5. Visit the blocked website.

When the browser reaches the local Blocker Web page, the blocked-attempt counter inside the program will also increase.

Secure Websites

Some secure HTTPS websites may display the browser’s own connection message instead of the custom Blocker Web page.

The website can still be blocked correctly even when the custom page is not shown.

Turn the Custom Page Off

To disable the feature:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Turn off the custom webpage option.

Your blocked websites will remain in the list and normal website blocking can continue.

Only the custom message will be turned off.
