How to add and launch a game with Easy Gamer Utility

Easy Gamer Utility lets you add PC games to a simple list and launch them from inside the program.

To add a game, you need to select its main .exe file.

An .exe file is the Windows program file used to start the game.

This guide explains how to find the correct game file, add it to Easy Gamer Utility and launch it.

What does the Game Launching tool do?

The Game Launching tool lets you create your own list of games inside Easy Gamer Utility.

After adding a game, you can:

  • Select it from the list
  • Launch it from Easy Gamer Utility
  • Choose its launch priority
  • Remove it from the list
  • Add it to the Easy Gamer Utility system tray menu
  • Select a game to launch when Windows starts

Adding a game does not move, copy or reinstall it.

Easy Gamer Utility simply remembers the location of the game’s existing .exe file.

Before adding a game

Make sure the game is already installed on your computer.

You will also need to know which launcher or folder the game uses.

Common game launchers include:

  • Steam
  • Epic Games Launcher
  • EA App
  • Ubisoft Connect
  • Battle.net
  • Xbox app
  • Riot Client

You do not need to open the game before adding it.

What is a game EXE file?

An EXE file is a Windows application file.

Its name ends with:

.exe

For example:

GameName.exe

The correct file is normally the one used to start the game.

Do not select:

  • A text file
  • A game save
  • A desktop picture
  • A configuration file
  • A game folder
  • An uninstaller
  • A crash reporter
  • A setup or installer file

Easy Gamer Utility only allows .exe files to be selected from the Browse window.

  3. Right-click the game.

  9. Click Browse and select that file.

Some games place the main executable inside another folder such as:

  • bin
  • Binaries
  • Win64
  • Game
  • Launcher

The name may not exactly match the public name of the game.

How to find an Epic Games Launcher game EXE

To find a game installed through Epic Games Launcher:

  1. Open Epic Games Launcher.
  2. Click Library.
  3. Find the game.
  4. Click the three dots beside it.
  5. Open the game’s installation location if that option is available.
  6. Find the main .exe file.
  7. Select that file using the Easy Gamer Utility Browse button.

Epic Games are often installed in a location similar to:

C:\Program Files\Epic Games

The exact drive and folder may be different.

  2. Open your game library.
  3. Select the game.
  4. Check the game’s installation or properties information.

Do not select the EA App executable unless you want Easy Gamer Utility to open the launcher itself.

How to find a Ubisoft Connect game EXE

Ubisoft games may be installed inside:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\games

To find the file:

  1. Open Ubisoft Connect.
  2. Open the game’s properties.
  3. Find the installation location.
  4. Open the game folder.
  5. Look for the main .exe file.
  6. Add that file to Easy Gamer Utility.

Some Ubisoft games may still open Ubisoft Connect before the game starts. This is normal.

How to find a Battle.net game EXE

Battle.net games can be installed on any drive selected during installation.

To find the folder:

  1. Open Battle.net.
  2. Select the game.
  3. Click the settings cog beside the Play button.
  4. Choose Show in Explorer or the available folder option.
  5. Find the main game .exe.
  6. Select it using Easy Gamer Utility.

Battle.net may still open when you launch the game because some Blizzard games require the launcher.

How to find the game file using a desktop shortcut

A desktop shortcut can help you find the correct game location.

  1. Right-click the game’s desktop shortcut.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. Look at the Target box.
  4. Click Open File Location if available.
  5. Find the .exe file shown in the Target box.
  6. Select that file in Easy Gamer Utility.

Some shortcuts use a special launcher link instead of a normal file path.

For example, a Steam shortcut may begin with steam://.

In that case, use Steam’s Browse local files option instead.

What happens when I click Add Game?

Easy Gamer Utility checks whether the selected .exe file exists.

If the file is valid, its full location is added to the games list.

For example:

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\GameName\GameName.exe

Easy Gamer Utility also makes the added game available through its system tray game list.

How to launch a game

After the game has been added:

  1. Open Easy Gamer Utility.
  2. Click Launch.
  3. Select Game Launching.
  4. Click the game inside the list.
  5. Click Launch Game.
  6. Wait for the game or its launcher to open.

You must select the game in the list before clicking Launch Game.

The selected game is normally highlighted.

Why does Easy Gamer Utility say I need to select a game?

This message appears when you click Launch Game without selecting anything from the list.

To fix it:

  1. Click the game path inside the large list.
  2. Make sure it is highlighted.
  3. Click Launch Game again.

Adding a game to the list does not automatically select it.

Why does the game launcher open instead of the game?

Some PC games require their original launcher to be open.

For example, launching a Steam game executable may still open Steam first.

The same can happen with:

  • Epic Games Launcher
  • EA App
  • Ubisoft Connect
  • Battle.net
  • Riot Client

This is normal.

The launcher may need to:

  • Check your ownership
  • Sign you into your account
  • Start anti-cheat software
  • Check for updates
  • Synchronise cloud saves
  • Apply launch options

Allow the launcher to finish loading.

Why does nothing happen when I launch the game?

Possible reasons include:

  • The game file was moved
  • The game was uninstalled
  • The selected file was not the main game executable
  • The game launcher is not installed
  • The launcher needs to update
  • The game requires administrator permission
  • Security software blocked the game
  • The game is already running
  • The selected file is a crash reporter or helper program

Try opening the same .exe file directly from Windows File Explorer.

If the game does not open directly, the problem is probably not caused by Easy Gamer Utility.

Why does Easy Gamer Utility say no game EXE was selected?

This appears when you click Add Game while the file location box is empty.

To fix it:

  1. Click Browse.
  2. Select the game’s .exe file.
  3. Click Open.
  4. Check that the file location appears.
  5. Click Add Game again.

Why does Easy Gamer Utility say the game path is incorrect?

Easy Gamer Utility checks that the selected file still exists.

The error may appear when:

  • The file was moved
  • The game was uninstalled
  • The path was typed incorrectly
  • The drive is disconnected
  • The game is stored on an external drive that is not connected
  • The file was renamed
  • The selected shortcut no longer works

Use Browse again and select the current game .exe.

Can I type the game path manually?

Yes, but using Browse is recommended.

Typing a long game location manually can easily cause mistakes.

A valid path must include:

  • The correct drive letter
  • Every folder in the location
  • The full file name
  • The .exe ending

For example:

D:\Games\Example Game\ExampleGame.exe

Using Browse fills this information in automatically.

Can I add a game from another drive?

Yes.

You can add games stored on:

  • A second internal drive
  • An SSD
  • A hard drive
  • An external drive
  • Another Steam library

The drive must be connected and available when you launch the game.

If an external drive is disconnected, Easy Gamer Utility will not be able to find the .exe.

Can I add more than one game?

Yes.

Repeat the same process for each game:

  1. Click Browse.
  2. Select the next game’s .exe.
  3. Click Add Game.

Each selected game will appear as a separate entry in the list.

The number of games or saved launch settings available may depend on whether you are using Easy Gamer Utility Free or Pro.

Can I add the same game twice?

Easy Gamer Utility may allow the same path to be added more than once.

There is normally no reason to keep duplicate entries.

Select the extra entry and click Remove Game.

How to remove a game from the list

Removing a game from Easy Gamer Utility does not uninstall it.

To remove an entry:

  1. Open Launch > Game Launching.
  2. Select the game in the list.
  3. Click Remove Game.
  4. Save the launch settings if needed.

Only the Easy Gamer Utility list entry is removed.

The game files remain on your computer.

Will removing a game delete my saved progress?

No.

The Remove Game button only removes the game from the Easy Gamer Utility launch list.

It does not remove:

  • The installed game
  • Saved game progress
  • Mods
  • Screenshots
  • Configuration files
  • Launcher information

Use the game launcher or Windows Settings if you want to uninstall a game.

How to choose the game launch priority

The slider on the Game Launching page controls the priority Easy Gamer Utility tries to use after starting the game.

The available options are:

  • Normal
  • Above Normal
  • High

Normal

The game uses the normal Windows priority.

This is the safest option for most users.

Above Normal

Windows gives the game slightly more attention than normal background programs.

This may help in some situations, but it does not guarantee better performance.

High

Windows gives the game a high process priority.

This option requires Easy Gamer Utility Pro.

High priority can cause problems with other programs or services, so use it carefully.

The priority may not change if Easy Gamer Utility cannot access the game process.

Do I need administrator permission to launch a game?

Normally, no.

Easy Gamer Utility can usually launch a game without administrator permission.

Administrator permission may be needed when:

  • The game itself requires it
  • You are trying to change a protected process priority
  • The game is installed in a protected location
  • Anti-cheat software blocks the action
  • You are using an advanced launch feature

Click Run EGU as admin and try again when a required action is being blocked.

Can Easy Gamer Utility optimise Windows before launching?

The Game Launching section may include an option to optimise Windows before starting the selected game.

When enabled, Easy Gamer Utility asks Windows to complete waiting background maintenance tasks before launching the game.

This does not guarantee higher FPS.

Leave the option disabled when you do not want Easy Gamer Utility to perform this extra step.

Can I launch an added game from the system tray?

Added games may appear inside the Easy Gamer Utility system tray menu.

To use it:

  1. Minimise Easy Gamer Utility.
  2. Find the Easy Gamer Utility icon near the Windows clock.
  3. Right-click the icon.
  4. Find the game launch list.
  5. Click the game you want to open.

Easy Gamer Utility will use the saved game path to start it.

The added game disappeared after restarting Easy Gamer Utility

Make sure you save the launch settings after adding or changing games.

Click Save Settings on the Game Launching page before closing the program.

If the game still disappears:

  • Check whether Easy Gamer Utility can save its settings
  • Run Easy Gamer Utility as an administrator
  • Make sure the game path still exists
  • Check that security software is not blocking the settings file
  • Update Easy Gamer Utility

Adding and launching a game in simple terms

Open Easy Gamer Utility and go to Launch > Game Launching.

Click Browse, find the game’s main .exe file and click Open.

Click Add Game to place it in the list.

Select the game from the list and click Launch Game whenever you want to start it.

Removing a game from the Easy Gamer Utility list does not uninstall it or delete your saved progress.
