How to analyse cache files before removing them
How to analyse cache files before removing them
Easy Gamer Utility lets you analyse supported game launcher cache files before removing them from your computer.
The Analyze button checks the selected launcher’s cache folder and shows the temporary files it can find.
Analysing does not delete or change anything. It is a safe way to check what is inside a supported cache folder before you decide whether to clean it.

When you click Analyze, Easy Gamer Utility checks the supported cache location for the selected game launcher.
It then displays the names of the files it finds.
You can use this information to confirm that:
- The launcher cache folder was found
- Temporary files are present
- Easy Gamer Utility can access the folder
- There may be files available to clean
The analysis does not remove the files.
Nothing is deleted until you separately click the Clean button and accept the confirmation message.
Why should I analyse files before cleaning them?
Analysing first gives you a chance to see whether Easy Gamer Utility has found anything.
This can be helpful when:
- You are using the cleaning tool for the first time
- You want to check the folder before deleting files
- You are troubleshooting a launcher problem
- You are unsure whether the cache folder is empty
- You want to confirm that Easy Gamer Utility found the launcher
- A previous cleaning attempt did not remove anything
You do not have to analyse every time, but it is recommended when you are unsure.

It is recommended, but analysing may still work while the launcher is open.
Closing the launcher helps Easy Gamer Utility access the cache folder without the launcher changing or locking files during the scan.
Before analysing:
- Close any game that uses the launcher.
- Close the main launcher window.
- Check the Windows system tray near the clock.
- Exit the launcher from the system tray if it is still running.
- Start the analysis.
Closing the launcher becomes more important when you are ready to clean the files.

- Check that Riot Client has also closed from the system tray.
- Open Easy Gamer Utility.

These files are separate from the main installed game files.
What information does the analysis show?
The analysis results display the names of the files found inside the supported cache folder.
The list may contain names that look unusual or difficult to understand.
This is normal.
Cache files often use:
- Random letters and numbers
- Temporary file names
- Database file names
- Image file names
- Web cache names
- Log file names
You do not need to understand every individual file.
The purpose of the list is to show that files were found before you choose whether to clean them.
What does “Analyze complete – No files found” mean?
This message means Easy Gamer Utility did not find any supported files in the selected cache location.
Possible reasons include:
- The cache folder is already empty
- The cache was recently cleaned
- The launcher has not created cache files yet
- The launcher is not installed
- The launcher uses a different folder
- Easy Gamer Utility cannot access the folder
- The launcher has changed how it stores its cache
- The selected launcher path is incorrect
This message is not an error by itself.
There may simply be nothing available to remove.
What should I do if no files are found?
Try these checks:
- Make sure the launcher is installed.
- Open the launcher and allow it to fully load.
- Close the launcher again.
- Restart Easy Gamer Utility.
- Run the analysis again.
- Check for an Easy Gamer Utility update.
For Ubisoft Connect, also check the saved Ubisoft path in Settings.
If no files are still found, the folder may be empty or the launcher may currently use a different cache location.
Why is the Analyze button not working?
The Analyze button may appear not to work when:
- The cache folder does not exist
- There are no files to display
- Easy Gamer Utility cannot access the folder
- The selected launcher is not installed
- The launcher location has changed
- A previous result box is already open
- Easy Gamer Utility needs to be updated
Wait a few seconds after clicking the button.
If nothing appears, close Easy Gamer Utility and reopen it.
You can also try running Easy Gamer Utility as an administrator:
- Click Run EGU as admin.
- Approve the Windows permission message.
- Return to Clean > Game Launchers.
- Click Analyze again.
Administrator permission is not normally needed for basic analysis, but it may help when a cache folder is inside a protected location.
Does analysing cache files change anything?
No.
The Analyze feature only reads the supported folder and displays the file names it finds.
It does not:
- Delete files
- Move files
- Uninstall games
- Remove saved progress
- Reset the launcher
- Sign you out
- Change Windows settings
You must click Clean separately before any supported cache files are removed.
Does analysing scan my entire computer?
No.
Easy Gamer Utility checks the known cache locations used by the selected supported launcher.
It does not perform a full antivirus or malware scan.
It also does not search every folder on every drive.
For example, clicking Analyze beside Steam checks the supported Steam cache location rather than scanning your complete Steam library.
Is analysing the same as cleaning?
No.
The two buttons perform different actions.
Analyze
- Checks the supported cache folder
- Displays the files found
- Does not remove anything
- Does not require confirmation
Clean
- Attempts to remove supported cache files
- Displays a warning first
- Requires you to confirm
- May report files that were deleted or could not be removed
Use Analyze first when you only want to look.
Use Clean when you are ready to remove the supported temporary files.
What should I check before clicking Clean?
After analysing the files, check that:
- You selected the correct launcher
- The related game is closed
- The launcher is completely closed
- You have read the cleaning warning
- You are ready for the launcher to rebuild its cache
- You know your launcher login details
Some launchers may ask you to sign in again after cleaning.
The launcher may also take longer to open the first time because it needs to create new temporary files.
Can I choose individual files to remove?
The Game Launchers analysis screen displays the files found, but the basic launcher cleaning buttons are designed to clean the supported cache location.
They do not normally let you tick individual files from the analysis list.
Clicking Clean attempts to remove the supported cache files for that launcher.
Do not continue if you are not comfortable removing the complete supported cache.
Will the file list remain after cleaning?
The analysis list shows what was found at the time of the scan.
After cleaning, some or all of those files may no longer exist.
Run Analyze again after cleaning if you want to check whether any supported files remain.
Files may still appear when:
- They were in use
- Windows blocked their removal
- The launcher was still running
- The launcher recreated them
- The files are stored in another supported folder
Should I analyse the cache every time?
You do not need to analyse every time you clean a launcher.
However, analysing first is helpful when:
- You are new to Easy Gamer Utility
- You are troubleshooting a problem
- You want to confirm files are present
- You are unsure which launcher you selected
- A previous cleaning attempt did not work
Experienced users may choose to go directly to Clean after closing the launcher and reading the confirmation message.

Find the launcher you want to check and click Analyze.
Easy Gamer Utility will list the supported cache files it finds without deleting them.
