How to Block a Website with Blocker Web
Blocker Web lets you add individual websites to a block list and prevent them from loading on your Windows computer.
This guide explains how to add a website, switch blocking on, and check that the website has been blocked correctly.
Add a Website to the Block List

Open Blocker Web and select Blocked Websites from the menu on the left.
Click the Add Website button to open the website form.
Enter the website you want to block. For example:
facebook.com
You can also paste a complete website address, such as:
Blocker Web will automatically remove the unnecessary parts of the address and save the main domain as:
facebook.com
Select a Reason
Before adding the website, select a reason from the available list.
The reason is saved alongside the website and can help you remember why it was blocked.
The blocked website list displays the:
- Website address
- Date it was added
- Selected reason
A reason must be selected before Blocker Web will add the website.
Click Add

Once you have entered the website and selected a reason, click Add.
The website will appear in the blocked websites list.
Blocker Web will not add the same website twice. If the domain is already in your list, you will see a message explaining that it has already been added.
Turn Website Blocking On
Adding a website to the list does not necessarily mean that blocking is currently enabled.
Check the website-blocking switch near the top of the Blocked Websites page.
When the switch displays ON, all websites in your saved list are blocked.
When it displays OFF, the websites remain saved but are temporarily accessible.
Select the switch to turn blocking on.
Test the Website

Open your normal web browser and try to visit the website you added.
The website should no longer load normally.
Depending on your browser and settings, you may see:
- A message saying the website cannot be reached
- A connection error
- The optional Blocker Web blocked page
The website can still be blocked even when the custom Blocker Web page does not appear.
What Website Address Should I Enter?
Enter the main website domain rather than a search term or a particular page.
For example, use:
youtube.com
rather than:
YouTube
You can paste a longer address, but Blocker Web will only save the main domain.
For example:
https://www.example.com/account/settings
becomes:
example.com
Blocker Web also removes a port number if one is included in the address.
Blocking Both www and Non-www Addresses

When a website is added, Blocker Web creates entries for both versions of the domain:
example.com
www.example.com
This helps prevent the website from loading regardless of which version of its address is used.
How Many Websites Can I Add?
Blocker Web Free allows up to five websites to be added to the block list.
If the Free limit has been reached, Blocker Web will ask you to upgrade before adding another website.
Blocker Web Pro removes the five-website limit.
Temporarily Allow the Website Again
You do not need to remove a website when you only want to allow it temporarily.
Set the main website-blocking switch to OFF.
This temporarily disables blocking for every website in your list while keeping the websites saved.
Set the switch back to ON when you want to block them again.
Permanently Remove a Website
To remove a website completely:
- Open the Blocked Websites section.
- Select the website in the list.
- Click Remove.
The website will be removed from the list and the entries managed by Blocker Web will be deleted from the Windows hosts file.
What If the Website Still Loads?
First, check that the main blocking switch displays ON.
You can also try:
- Closing every browser window.
- Reopening the browser.
- Checking that the correct domain is in the list.
- Closing Blocker Web and reopening it as an administrator.
- Testing the website in a different browser.
A page that was already open may continue displaying previously loaded content until the browser is refreshed or restarted.
Some websites also use several different domains for parts of their service. The main website may be blocked while content from another related domain remains available.
