What to Do If Internet Lock Remains Enabled

What to Do If Internet Lock Remains Enabled

Internet Lock uses Windows Firewall rules to block common web traffic across your computer.

These rules remain active until they are removed. This means web access can remain blocked even after Blocker Web has been closed or the computer has been restarted.

Follow the steps below if Internet Lock appears to remain enabled.

Reopen Blocker Web

Start by reopening Blocker Web.

When the application starts, it checks whether its Internet Lock firewall rules are present. If the rules are detected, an Internet Blocked notice will appear near the top of the program.

Open the Internet Lock section and select the option to restore or unblock web access.

Blocker Web should display a message confirming that the firewall rules have been removed.

Run Blocker Web as an Administrator

Windows may prevent Blocker Web from removing firewall rules when it does not have administrator permission.

To run Blocker Web as an administrator:

  1. Close Blocker Web completely.
  2. Find the Blocker Web shortcut.
  3. Right-click the shortcut.
  4. Select Run as administrator.
  5. Select Yes when Windows asks for permission.
  6. Open Internet Lock.
  7. Select the option to restore web access.

Administrator permission is normally required when creating or removing Windows Firewall rules.

Restart Blocker Web

After removing Internet Lock, close and reopen Blocker Web.

The Internet Blocked notice should no longer be visible.

If the notice still appears, try the unblock option again while Blocker Web is running as an administrator.

Restart Your Browser

A web browser may continue showing an earlier connection error after Internet Lock has been removed.

Try the following:

  1. Close every browser window.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. Reopen the browser.
  4. Visit a website in a new tab.

You can also test more than one website to make sure the problem is not limited to a particular service.

Restart the Computer

If websites still do not load, restart Windows.

Restarting can clear old network connections and ensure that programs recognise the updated firewall settings.

After Windows restarts, open Blocker Web and check whether the Internet Blocked notice is still showing.

Check Normal Website Blocking

Internet Lock is separate from the standard Blocked Websites feature.

If Internet Lock has been removed but a particular website still does not load:

  1. Open Blocked Websites.
  2. Check whether the website is in your saved list.
  3. Check whether website blocking is set to ON.
  4. Temporarily turn website blocking off or remove the website.

If most websites work and only selected domains remain unavailable, Internet Lock is probably no longer active.

Check Your Windows Connection

Make sure your computer is still connected to the internet.

Check the Windows network icon and confirm that:

  • Wi-Fi is connected, or
  • Your Ethernet connection is active
  • Airplane mode is turned off
  • Your router is working normally

You can also test another device connected to the same network.

If other devices cannot access the internet either, the problem is unlikely to be caused by Blocker Web.

Remove the Rules Through Windows Firewall

If Blocker Web cannot remove the Internet Lock rules, you can check for them manually.

Only remove rules clearly created by Blocker Web.

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Search for Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security.
  3. Open it.
  4. Select Outbound Rules from the left side.
  5. Look for rules named:

Blocker Web - Firewall - Block All Internet

Blocker Web - Firewall - Block QUIC

You may also see an older rule named:

Block All Web

  1. Right-click each matching rule.
  2. Select Delete.
  3. Confirm the removal.

Do not delete unrelated firewall rules.

After removing the rules, close and reopen your browser.

Remove the Rules Using Command Prompt

You can also remove the Blocker Web rules through an administrator Command Prompt.

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Search for Command Prompt.
  3. Right-click it.
  4. Select Run as administrator.
  5. Enter the following commands one at a time:

netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name="Blocker Web - Firewall - Block All Internet"

netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name="Blocker Web - Firewall - Block QUIC"

netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name="Block All Web"

These commands only target the firewall rule names used by Blocker Web.

Internet Blocked Notice Remains After Removing the Rules

If websites work normally but the notice is still visible:

  1. Close Blocker Web completely.
  2. Reopen it.
  3. Check the Internet Lock section again.

Blocker Web checks for its firewall rules during startup, so restarting the application should update the notice.

Avoid Uninstalling While Internet Lock Is Enabled

Turn Internet Lock off before uninstalling Blocker Web.

Removing the application does not necessarily remove firewall rules that are already active. This could leave common web traffic blocked without the Blocker Web controls being available.

Restore web access first, confirm that websites load normally, and then uninstall the application if needed.

When the Problem May Not Be Internet Lock

The issue may be unrelated to Blocker Web if:

  • The Internet Blocked notice is not visible
  • The Blocker Web firewall rules are not present
  • Other devices on the same network also have no internet
  • Windows reports that the network is disconnected
  • Only one particular website is unavailable
  • Security software is blocking the connection

In these situations, check your router, Windows network settings, browser, VPN, or security software.
