Getting Started with Easy System Utility for Windows
Getting Started with Easy System Utility
Easy System Utility brings together Windows cleaning, storage management, file tools and repair features in one program. This guide walks you through the main areas of the software and shows you how to carry out your first Windows cleanup.
The interface is split into clearly labelled sections down the left-hand side, so you can move between cleaning tools, file management, storage scanners, repair options and settings without needing to open separate programs.

When Easy System Utility opens, the Home page displays a quick overview of your computer.
Depending on what Windows can detect, this may include your:
- Windows version
- Processor
- Motherboard
- Installed memory
- Graphics card
- Network adapter
- Storage drives
This overview is useful when you need to quickly check what hardware is installed or confirm basic system information before troubleshooting a problem.
You may also see a Start ESU as administrator button in the left-hand menu. Easy System Utility can be used normally without administrator access, but some Windows cleaning and repair tasks need additional permission to access protected files, folders or services.
For the best results when carrying out system maintenance, open Easy System Utility as an administrator.
Running your first Windows cleanup
The Clean section is the best place to begin. It allows you to analyse and remove common Windows junk files, temporary data and supported software cache files.
Select Clean from the left-hand menu. You will see two lists:
- Windows, for Windows system and temporary file locations
- Software, for supported browsers, programs and application data
The Windows list includes options such as temporary files, crash dumps, DirectX shader cache, thumbnail cache, recent files, the Recycle Bin, Windows log files and Delivery Optimisation files.
The Software list contains supported application and browser data, including cache, session history, visited links and other stored information.
Only select the items you are comfortable removing. Some options, such as browser login data or session history, can affect saved browser information or open sessions.
Analyse files before cleaning

Once you have selected the areas you want to check, click Analyze.
Easy System Utility will scan the selected locations and display information about what it finds. Analysing first allows you to review the estimated amount of disk space that can be recovered before anything is removed.
This is a useful first step when learning how to use the cleaner because it lets you see which categories contain data without immediately deleting files.
When the analysis has finished, review the results and click Clean when you are ready to remove the selected files.
Some files may remain if they are currently being used by Windows or another open program. Running Easy System Utility as an administrator and closing unnecessary software may allow more selected files to be cleaned.
Choosing between Windows and software cleaning
Use the Windows and Software buttons underneath the cleaning list to switch between the two groups.
Windows cleaning focuses on data created by Windows itself, while software cleaning focuses on supported applications installed on your PC.
You do not need to select every available option. A sensible first cleanup might include temporary files, thumbnail cache, crash dump files, the Recycle Bin and browser cache.
After you have found a selection that works well for you, click Save Selections. Easy System Utility will remember the items you selected so they can be used again during future cleanups.
Saved cleaning options are also used by the automatic cleaning features available with Easy System Utility PRO.
Including and excluding folders

Easy System Utility gives you additional control over the folders used during cleaning.
The Include Locations area in Settings lets you add your own folder paths. When Custom Locations is selected on the Clean tab, the contents of these folders can be included in the cleanup.
This is useful for folders that regularly collect temporary exports, application cache files or other disposable data.
Only include a folder when you are certain its contents can be removed. Cleaning an included custom location is irreversible.
The Exclude Locations area works in the opposite way. It allows you to protect selected folders from the normal cleaning process.
This can be useful when an application stores important files inside a location that would otherwise be included in a cleanup.
Using Deep Clean
The regular cleaner checks known Windows and software locations. Deep Clean searches more widely for selected file types.
Open Deep Clean from the left-hand menu and choose the types of files you want to find. Available options include temporary files, log files, dump files, backup files, old files and Windows Error Report files.
Click Analyze to begin scanning.
Files found during the scan are shown in the results table with information such as:
- File path
- File size
- File type
- Status
You can tick or untick individual results before clicking Clean. This gives you the opportunity to review the files instead of removing every result automatically.
Deep Clean can take longer than a normal cleanup because it searches through folders for matching file types. The total scanning time depends on the number and size of your drives.
Finding what is using your disk space

If your drive is still running low on space after cleaning temporary files, open the Finder section.
The Largest Files tool scans a selected drive and helps identify individual files using a large amount of storage. The Largest Folders tool does the same for folders.
This is particularly useful when large downloads, recordings, backups or old program folders are taking up more disk space than expected.
Easy System Utility PRO also unlocks the folder scan depth control, giving you additional control over how deeply the folder scanner searches through nested directories.
The Largest User Profile tool can also show which local Windows user accounts are consuming the most disk space.
Exploring the file and folder tools
The Folders and Files section includes several tools for everyday file management.
From here, you can:
- Unlock an individual file or folder
- Reduce the size of an image
- Add text watermarks to images
- Rename files and folders
- Permanently delete a large folder
Easy System Utility PRO expands these tools with bulk processing. Instead of handling one item at a time, PRO users can add lists of files, folders or images and process them together.
This includes batch renaming files, resizing multiple images, applying watermarks to multiple images and unlocking several files or folders in one operation.
Generating a password
The Generator section creates random passwords using the options you select.
Choose the required password length and select whether the password should include lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers and symbols.
The generated password appears at the top of the page and can be copied using Copy Password.
Easy System Utility PRO also includes bulk password generation, allowing several random passwords to be created and copied together.
Adding Quick Launch items
The Launch section lets you add frequently used programs, files and folders to the Easy System Utility system tray menu.
Select whether you are adding a program, file or folder, then browse to the item and click Add.
Once saved, the item can be opened from the Easy System Utility icon in the Windows system tray. This provides quick access to commonly used tools and locations without searching through File Explorer.
Items can be removed individually, or the complete Quick Launch list can be cleared.
Using the repair tools
The Repair section contains tools designed to attempt common fixes for Windows, browsers and other software.
The free version includes the dead pixel test and fixer. Other repair features are available with Easy System Utility PRO, including tools for:
- Printer problems
- Windows Update
- Windows graphical glitches
- Internet connection problems
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla Firefox
- Programs that are not opening or working correctly
The Custom Software Repair tool allows you to browse to a program and run a repair attempt. A deeper analysis option is also available for additional checks.
These tools apply common fixes and resets, but the result will depend on the cause of the problem. Hardware faults and severe Windows corruption may still need further investigation.
Changing the program settings
Open Settings to control how Easy System Utility behaves.
Available settings include:
- Start Easy System Utility with Windows
- Minimise the program to the system tray
- Add Quick Clean to the system tray menu
- Change the program language

Remember to click Save after changing your settings.
Activating Easy System Utility PRO
To activate PRO, open Settings and select Activate PRO.
Enter the email address used for your purchase and the product key from your purchase email, then click Activate Product Key.
An Easy System Utility lifetime key unlocks PRO features within Easy System Utility. A ComputerSluggish Pro+ key unlocks PRO across the ComputerSluggish applications included with the subscription.
Once activated, the locked controls become available and the upgrade advertising area is removed from the main program window.
What to try next
After completing your first cleanup, spend some time exploring the other areas of Easy System Utility.
A good starting routine is to analyse your Windows and software cleaning selections, review the results, save the options you regularly use and then check the Finder tools to see whether any particularly large files or folders are using your storage.
Upgrading to Easy System Utility PRO adds automatic cleaning, bulk file tools, advanced repair options, DNS management, bulk software removal and additional scanning controls. These features are especially useful when you want Easy System Utility to handle regular maintenance with less manual work.
