And this is all great when the game is working, but as you are on this guide then this means that FIFA 23 keeps crashing and not loading on your XBOX. Luckily, we should be able to fix that with the methods below.

Why is FIFA 23 not working on my XBOX?

Many things can cause FIFA 23 crashes and get stuck on the loading screen on an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

For example, if there is a problem with your console’s cache files then this can cause issues, not having the latest system update installed, or if your saved data has become corrupted.

How to fix FIFA 23 crashing on Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One

Below are the different methods for fixing FIFA 23 crashing and errors and not working on an Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One. You will need to try each method until one resolves the problem you are having.

Fix 1: Twitter

The first thing to do is check if there is anything on the FIFA 23 Twitter Page regarding problems with the game not working on Xbox, and if it’s the same issue you are having.

Fix 2: Update the system

Check to see if there is a new system update available for your Xbox:

  • Press the Xbox button on your Xbox controller and open Settings
  • Go to System then Updates
Xbox One system updates checking for updates

Fix 3: Update game

Check if there are any new updates available for the game. If there are then it could have the fix for the problem you are having:

  • Select My games and apps from the home screen > Go to Manage
  • Select Updates
Xbox One select Updates in My games and apps

Fix 4: Switch profile

Try a different user profile on your Xbox to see if it’s a problem with your Xbox account.

Fix 5: Clear cache

Try clearing your Xbox cache. If there is a problem with the console’s cache files then this will cause issues:

  • Turn off your Xbox > Unplug from the mains before you do this make sure your Xbox Series X has fully shutdown and not still running
  • Leave for around 60 seconds
  • Plug back into the mains and turn on

Fix 6: Saved data

If your game saved data has become corrupted this will cause issues so try removing it and then trying the game again.

Just make sure you do a backup before in case it is not a problem with your saved data.

  • Open My Games & Apps and find FIFA 23 > Open More Options by pressing the Menu button on your controller (3 lines)
  • Select Manage game and add-ons and then Saved Data
  • Choose your profile > Select Delete from console
Xbox One saved data setting.

Fix 7: Reinstall

If none of the above methods helped fix FIFA 23 on your Xbox if the game is still not working then try reinstalling the game. And if you have it installed on an external drive install it on your internal drive:

  • Open My games and apps and then select Games
  • Go to FIFA 23 > Open More options
  • Select Uninstall and then select Uninstall All
Xbox one game icon menu selecting uninstall game

Final Thoughts

We hope one of the above methods helped fix FIFA 23 Xbox crashes and issues whether it happens on career mode, in a match, or on the loading screen or menus. Sit back and enjoy the game with your friends and win that world cup!
