No Display On PS5

The PlayStation 5 is a fantastic console and we have been having a great time enjoying it. But that fun can disappear fast if you all of a sudden start having issues with it such as the console being laggy or not displaying an output!

So If you are having problems with your PS5 displaying no output to your TV display, then don’t panic just yet as there are a few things that you can do that will hopefully get your PS5 back on your screen.

So in this guide, we will be taking a look at how you can hopefully fix your PlayStation 5 not showing any display, black screen, or a blank screen. Below we have listed a couple of things you can do that will hopefully sort your PS5 display issues.

Why Am I Getting Black Screen On PS5?

There can be many reasons why you are getting a black screen on your PS5 console. Normally it’s not a hardware fault but more of a setting or cable issue. For example, a common cause of getting a black or blank screen on your console or any device for that matter is the cable not being inserted correctly into the display, or even not being on the correct source of the TV!

What If The Methods Don’t Work?

If you are still unable to get a display output from your PlayStation 5 then you might need to contact Sony support as it could unfortunately be a hardware issue. But as we said this is not very likely and one of the methods below will hopefully work for you.

How To Fix PlayStation 5 No Display:

1. Ensure the cables are all plugged in

Although it sounds simple, if you have accidentally knocked a cable so it has come out slightly or even forgot to plug a cable back in, then it goes without saying that you will have a black display.

2. Try changing the display port

Try a different port to the one you currently have plugged your PS5 into, as it could be an issue with the port.

3. Change the HDMI cable

Try using a different HDMI id possible in case the current one is faulty.

4. Make sure you are on the correct HDMI source on your TV

Just check you have selected the correct source to show your PS5 display on your TV. We find it helpful to name all of our input sources so we know which is which.

5. Change your video output on your PS5

To do this you will need to go into safe mode on your PS5:

  • Completely power down your PS5
  • Press & hold the Power button and after you hear the second beep release the button
  • Plug your controller into your PS5 using the cable
  • Now select Change Video Output
  • Select Change Resolution
  • You will then get a message saying “Your PS5 will restart. After it’s restarted, select the video output resolution” > Select OK

6. Try plugging your PS5 into a different TV

If you have a different TV or monitor, try and connect your PS5 to ensure your TV is not faulty.

There you have it you should now have your display back on your PS5 and be able to jump straight back into action and enjoy playing your games. But if you are still unable to get the display to work on your PS5 then as we previously mentioned above, you might need to contact Sony.
