Fix Programs Keep Taking Control Over Microphone

In this Windows 10 post, we will be taking a look at how you can stop programs and apps from taking control of your microphone.

This will mean that you will not be able to adjust the microphone settings from within a program like the microphones volume etc.

Stop Programs from adjusting Your Microphone Volume:

1. Right-click on the sound icon in the bottom right-hand corner > Click on Sounds

2. Now click the “Recording” tab > Select your microphone then click “Properties

3. Now click the “Advanced” tab

4. Underneath “Exclusive Mode” untick “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device” then click “OK

Programs will no longer be able to control your microphone in Windows 10.

If you do decide you want this setting changed back later on then just do the above again but tick “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device“.
